Kuwait is a small country, among the Arabian Gulf Countries, which has a historical background extending to centuries. Archaeological records reveal that even two thousand years before Christ Failaka, which is one of the nine islands of Kuwait, was having inhabitants. According to these records, the people who lived in that island were following the traditions and life style of Greek culture
The history of modern Kuwait began from middle of 18th century. In the Year 1756 Kuwait became an independent society and Sheikh Sabah Bin Jaber became its first Amir. Since then Kuwait began business relationship with the outside World. Main business then was fishing and collecting pearls from the sea. Since the inception of Kuwait in 1756, the Sabah family ruled Kuwait and raised it to the level of a developed welfare State. In the Year 1938 discovery of oil in the island of Burgan had turned out to be a milestone in the history of Kuwait. Even though oil was discovered in the 1938, its production began only in 1946 after the Second World War. With the production of oil began on a large scale, several job opportunities were brought in and many people from different countries entered Kuwait seeking job in the oil fields. The production of oil brought Kuwait one of the rich countries in the World. In the Year 1961 Kuwait was declared to be a complete free Nation and in the same year itself it became a member of Arab League. In 1963 Kuwait was accepted as a member of United Nations
